In wealth management, many individuals and teams are responsible for delivering a quality experience to clients—not just their assigned advisor.
Here at Evermay, we know that to be true and see it every day from our operations and client service staff.
Barron's recently asked advisors, “What's an underestimated job on your team that makes a big difference for client outcomes?”
That was an easy one to answer for Will Pitt, Evermay co-founder and CEO.
“Dana Tomisek, our chief operating officer, is rarely seen by clients, yet she’s the reason each engagement with an advisor and a tax professional is so buttoned up and consistent at Evermay. We started as a very small firm, and we were only as good as each advisor and their team. Now we’ve built the firm to nearly 50 people, and we’ve leaned into workflows and our [customer relationship management system, or CRM]. Dana understands all the communication points: the spring and fall meetings and what will be covered, the custom communication sheets that go out to clients, the emails, and the meeting prep for each engagement, including tax and wealth management. She then systematizes all these data points into workflows in the CRM, so they are consistently utilized in every client meeting.
“You would never see that, but you’d wonder why each of our advisory teams are so skilled and capable, not only with wealth management items but also with every bit of tax information you need to have a highly engaging, effective relationship with your tax preparer. Dana joined the firm four years ago as director of operations and client experience, and she was recently promoted to chief operating officer. For me, CRM used to be a fancy Rolodex and maybe a note taker. Now, with its workflows and communication, it does a whole lot more, and we are a much greater high-touch firm because of the technology she and her team know how to harness. Thanks to Dana, every client’s experience is consistent.”
